Why we use information
We use information to process payments and orders; provide downloads and physical deliveries; communicate about orders; answer support and accessibility requests; maintain and improve the store; prevent fraud and misuse; keep records and meet legal obligations; and send marketing where permitted and consistent with your choices.
Where laws such as the GDPR or UK GDPR apply, our legal bases depend on the activity: performing or preparing a contract for orders; complying with legal duties; our legitimate interests in proportionate security, support and service improvement, balanced against your rights; and consent where required for marketing or non-essential cookies. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Shopify and other recipients
Shopify hosts our store and provides commerce services. We share information as needed with providers that help with payments, digital delivery, shipping, hosting, communications, support, analytics, advertising, fraud prevention and professional services. Their access and roles depend on the service. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect lawful rights and safety, or in connection with a business transaction subject to applicable safeguards.
Shopify may also process information for purposes described in its own privacy notices, including when you use Shopify consumer features. Learn more in Shopify’s Consumer Privacy Policy. Some service providers act as independent controllers for their own activities. This policy does not make their separate services part of our store.
Cookies, advertising and your choices
Cookies and similar technologies support essential store functions and, depending on your choices and applicable law, analytics or advertising. Advertising-related disclosures of identifiers and browsing information can be treated as a “sale,” “sharing” or targeted advertising under some privacy laws even when no money is exchanged for the information.
Use the cookie controls displayed for your region and our privacy choices and opt-out page to manage applicable choices. Where required by applicable law, we honor recognized opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control. The scope of a browser-based choice can depend on the browser, device and whether we can identify you; you may need to repeat it on another device. Ordinary Do Not Track signals do not necessarily have the same legal or technical effect as recognized opt-out preference signals.
You can also control cookies in your browser, although blocking necessary cookies may affect checkout and other functions. Unsubscribe from marketing using the link in a marketing email, or contact us. Essential order and support communications may still be sent.
Retention, security and international processing
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described, including fulfilling orders, providing support, handling disputes and meeting applicable tax, accounting and other legal obligations. The period depends on the type of information and the relevant requirements. We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
Our store’s data hosting is in the United States, and Shopify and other providers may process information in other countries. Where a restricted international transfer is subject to applicable data-protection law, the transfer must rely on an appropriate lawful mechanism and safeguards. Contact us for information about transfers relevant to your data.
Privacy rights
Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to access or obtain a copy of information, correct it, request deletion, restrict processing, object to certain processing, portability, withdraw consent, or opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. You may also have a right to appeal a denied request or complain to a data-protection authority. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
Contact info@dyslexiaproducts.com with “Privacy request” in the subject and describe your request. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity or an authorized agent’s authority; do not send sensitive identity documents unless we explain a necessary, secure method. We will respond within applicable legal time limits and explain any lawful exception. To appeal a response where available, reply with “Privacy appeal.” You may contact your local regulator independently.
Children and learning information
Our store is designed for adults purchasing educational resources. It does not currently offer a children’s account service, student assessment portal or community forum. Resources being intended for children’s learning does not mean we need their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as our services or legal requirements change and will update the date above. Where required, we will give additional notice or obtain consent. Questions and requests can be sent to info@dyslexiaproducts.com or the mailing address above.
